SUPERLIFT 4XADVENTURE
We had a great time at Hot Springs, AR. Attended 2
days at the event (coordinated by Mr. Bob Hazel - (www.sports-in-the-rough.com) then since it
was our first visit to Hot Springs so we did some sightseeing 1/2 days before we headed
back to Houston.
Event was well organized, everything seemed to be great.
The KOA Camp Ground (we stayed at Hampton Inn) was beautiful & people work
there were helpful, trail leaders were really experienced people on the territory.
The 1st day we took "concrete hill" trail, which
we found out soon, was a hard core group - of course we didn't realize until we started
the trail rides - though we enjoyed watching different vehicles & actions and meeting
with people from different part of the country. Basically we only went to 5 big
hills this day. We were one of the few open-diff (= non-lockers) vehicle in the
group which explains (?) that we only made 2 hill out of 5 on that day. Once we felt
it isn't a very good idea to try the slick, rocky hill, we gave up the hard ones since we
were afraid to cause a major damage on our truck. We had one unbelievable incident
when few trucks tried the "Concrete Hill". One older FJ-40 Toyota with 3
people in there, tried so hard to go up one hard, steep, curvy hill, it almost rolled
straight back toward the way it came up, then it vertically stood up & paused towards
the sky !! Completely vertical and stayed there for several minutes until
pulled
back down to the front tires by onlookers. Anyway we had a very exciting day.
The 2nd day we decided to take a easier trail ride which
we can go whole trails with other vehicles, with no big cold sweat. We drove a lot
of roads and very skinny trails between the wooden hill sides. Since our D90 is a
slightly wider than Jeep/Bronco, seemed like we had the toughest time to make a tight turn
in the wooded area.
The next day as we mentioned above, we had a sightseeing
for 1/2 day. Took a famous "Duck Tour" which go through the downtown to
the Lake, about 1 hr. ride went quickly. Very entertaining, we would recommend the
Duck Ride to anyone, especially for the family with children. Also we visited the
Bath House national park museum and bought 2 empty glass bottles which we filled up with
some of the genuine Hot Spring water (warm) and brought back home to Houston.
Beautiful, scenic trails, well-organized event & Duck
Tour----It was well worth the 8 hr drive one way. Thank you, Mr. Bob Hazel and all the
people worked for the event.
