Met up with the group at J.J.'s One Stop outside of Houston at 7AM !  We had to leave house 5:45AM.

Since it was a meeting a few officers drove their pickups instead of their 4x4's.

Around 9:30AM we were already at Shiloh Ridge.  We parked under the big trees.  This hill top was very breezy and nice spot as long as you keep chasing the shade by trees.

Hard to show by the picture but all round was quite good view of hills of far distance.

We had a short 4 wheeling before lunch/meeting.

There are many hills, and most of the hills have 2 - 3 choices in difficulties.

There are short steep hills throughout.

Several hills are sandy and loose and even for open diff vehicles it can be a challenge.

A strap and a light pull is all it takes.

Since we were next in line we had no choice but to try in our stock Discovery.
First attempt proved that the stock street tires aired down to only 25 PSI was not doing the job.

I then backed down slightly to see a better line with solid rocks to bite on.  A slightly faster speed and movement back and forth of the steering wheel then the disco crawled up thanks to the built in factory ABS traction control.
While traveling back to the meeting spot one person wanted to attempt a nice mud hole.
A long strap and a pull and out it came out of the goop.
During the meeting many topics were discussed along with future events.

Around 1PM Mimi and I headed back to Houston.
